Carcaboso Morales receives HSD Peer Award

Congratulations to Fernando Carcaboso Morales (672/UMBC) for being recognized with a 2025 Heliophysics Science Division Peer Award. Within the HSD, Code 672 is home to the Heliophysics Physics Laboratory.

His award reads as follows: “Fernando (672) is nominated because he consistently goes above and beyond in our research group—organizing meetings, supporting the team, and never seeking recognition. In a lab full of fluctuations, he’s the steady flow: quiet, reliable, and always moving us forward. He exudes kindness and always puts others first. On tough days, his calm presence is like the first few Legendre polynomials in a spherical expansion—bringing clarity and balance that help others express their full complexity. He’s the axial magnetic field of a flux rope, holding everything together while the rest of us swirl in chaos. His steady reliability is a well-connected field line for the electron strahl to follow: unwavering and guiding with intention. Because of him, our lab feels like home.”

Dr. Carcaboso Morales also was featured in a previous Early Career Scientist Spotlight, where you can learn more about his research and activities.
